thanks for this I just wrote the IEA to see if there is anything here in Omaha that needs doing, you are probably right that this is a done deal but maybe we can spark the environmental movement going into the election, esp. if Perry is the candidate.

It is vitally important to report the truth of such matters but it is not enough we must organize counter political machines.
Ellsberg and co. were sure that when they told the truth about the war in Vietnam that the American people would rise up in opposition but instead they reelected Nixon in a landslide.

@Dirk - if ever there was time, now (and now, and now) is it. If we don't stop this runaway train it won't matter who is sitting in first class or hiding in the luggage cart.

Indeed: counter-political resonance machines, as Bill Connolly might put it. Affective assemblages of collective force and persuasion. The network of resistance is growing we simply need to intensify the process.

I'm Canadian so it looks a little different from up here. If Obama fails on this pipeline issue he will NOT win another term. President Rick Perry will then accelerate the train in the name of 'progress'... Endgame in my opinion.

Author and climate activist Bill McKibben was among hundreds arrested at the White House recently at an environmental protest over a proposed Canada-U.S. oil pipeline. McKibben joins us in the studio -- along with veteran environmentalist and entrepreneur Paul Hawken -- to talk about approaches to tackling climate change
