Disney, Dali and Destino
In 1946 Walt Disney and Salvador Dali began collaborating on a short film they believed would redefine the way animation was understood. The film was called Destino. Deemed too disturbing for general audiences the film was never released. The Disney Corporation eventually released a slightly altered version of the film in 2003. Watch it in its entirety below:

This was an absolutely fantastic post - blew me away. Great, great find. Thank you!
This was amazing. I wonder if this could classify Dali as the fatehr of anime as there are elements of the illustration and concept that fit the genre perfectly.
It is so Dali. Granted it is disturbing. But there is so much more expression than in a "traditional" Disney film. You would think that they could have maintained the styling even if the fantastical was too much for the "general audience". This makes subsequent releases seem as flat as Snow White compared to Ariel or Jasmine.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
It is an amazing piece! I would have never considered those two getting together - although I have always thought of Disneyworld as a place of surrealism. Perhaps capitalist hyper-realism.
I think Disney as a production venture would have become very different if Dali and Walty worked together more...
PC, where are you blogging now? Or, are you only working on the book?
hahaha I've been busy with extra-curricular activities. Strangely enough, yours is the only blog I check up on these days. It tickles my mind...Infact, with your interests and activities I'm surprised you ever read my nonsense.
I've also visited your youtube page and love the stuff you've posted. (hope you don't think I'm a stalker!)
PS I'm stuck on Chapter 11... but having loads of fun with it. Perfect psychotherapy!
PC,
There is a lot of great content on youtube, for sure. My channel has a lot of interesting stuff in the playlists.
Chapter 11! Wow, you work fast. It takes me forever to even write 10 pages. Keep pushing through, I'm sure it will be great. If you need someone to give it a read-over you know where to find me.
I'm delighted to know you are still visiting. And no worries, I'd be flattered to have a stalker at this point! Especially one as fantastic as you.
stay in touch.
m-
yes, but your 10 pages are probably worth 10 chapters of mine!
PC, i strongly doubt that...
